Skandagiri

Skandagiri is one of the most popular trekking places around Bangalore. It is also known as Kalavaradurga. This hill is at an altitude of 1350 meters. It is just around 5 km away from Chikkaballapur city & is an ideal weekend getaway for trekkers wanting to spend time amidst nature.


Permission for the Skandgiri trek can be taken from the forest department by booking tickets on their website. The trek offers beautiful views of Muddenhalli, Chikkaballpura city & a lake near the hill. You can see ruins of an old fort & an abandoned Shiva temple at the summit. Skandagiri is especially known for the sunrise view it offers from the peak of the hill.


Papagni Mutt

Papagni Mutt at Kalavara village is one of the oldest mutts of Karnataka. Goddess Parvathi is the presiding deity at the temple here. Shri Veerabrahmendra Swamy who is known for his works 'Kaalagnanam' (Future predictions) & 'Atmagnanam' lived at this mutt. A special pooja is performed here every Saturday. Devotees from various parts of Karnataka & Andhra Pradesh frequently visit this mutt.


Sir M. Vishweshwaraiah Museum, Muddenahalli

Muddenahalli is the birthplace of Sir Mokshagundam Vishweshwaraiah popularly known as Sir M. Vishweshwaraiah or Sir M.V. He was India's one of most gifted engineers, statesman & scholar. He served as the Diwan of Mysore state from 1912 to 1919. There is a museum at Muddenahali managed by Vishweshwaraiah National Memorial Trust, where his awards, titles & personal belongings including his books, spectacles, cups &, etc, are exhibited. Entry to the museum is free. The museum is open from 11 AM to 5 PM on all days except on Tuesdays


Nandi hill-

Nandi hill needs no introduction if you've visited Bangalore even once. It is the most popular weekend getaway among people living in Bengaluru. It is around 10 km away from Chikkaballapur & 60 km away from Bengaluru.


It is well-known for the view of sunrise from its peak. Thousands of people visit Nandi hills every weekend to watch this tantalizing sunrise. It is a haven for hikers, cyclists & weekend wanderers from Bangalore.


Gudibande Fort-

Gudibande is an idyllic town in Chikkaballapura district. The view of the town & Byrasagara tank from the peak of Gudibande is mesmerizing. Watching sunrise or sunset is must-do experience when you are here.

Chennagiri Hills-

Chennagiri hills is one of the five hills in the Nandi hills range. It is an ideal place for trekking. There is a temple & a kalyani at the peak of the hill. You can also visit Channapura falls which is on the trail to the peak.


Kaurava Kunda-

Kaurava kunda is another popular trekking place in Chikkaballapur along with Skandagiri. (Jaramadugu)

Srinivasa Sagara provides water to Chikkaballapur.
